2 Killed in Head-On ATV, Dirt Bike Collision

A 21-year-old Hampshire man and 21-year-old Kirkland man were both killed when an ATV and dirt bike collided in rural DeKalb County.

Dakota M. Sikula, of 45W963 Allen Road in Hampshire, and Douglas W. Wallace Jr., of 4783 Cherry Valley Road in Kirkland, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened near Wallace’s residence at about 7:37 p.m. on Saturday, according to an accident report from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Sikula was driving a 2002 Honda ATV, which had its lights on, east on Cherry Valley Road just west of Bucks Road when his vehicle collided head on with Sikula’s westbound dirt bike, according to authorities. The dirt bike did not have its lights on at the time of collision.

The accident remains under investigation by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and the DeKalb County Coroner’s Office.
