5 Injured In McHenry Co. Crash
A woman, teen and three juveniles were all taken to hospitals following the two-vehicle collision Friday night near Wonder Lake.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 36-year-old woman and a teen were transported by helicopter to hospitals following a two-vehicle crash Friday night near Wonder Lake. The collision happened at about 9 p.m. when a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix was heading north on West Wonder Lake Road in unincorporated Wonder Lake collided with with a 2001 Dodge Ram.
The Dodge, driven by a 17-year-old Woodstock boy, had been stopped at White Oak Road and about to turn south onto West Wonder Lake Road at the time of the crash, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
The teen driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident and was ejected from his vehicle, and the driver of the Grand Prix, Perla A. Pulido Fuentes, need to be extricated.

Both Fuentes and the teen were taken by helicopters to Advocate Medical Center in Libertyville, and three juveniles in the Pontiac were taken by ambulance to Northwestern Hospital in McHenry. All five people injured in the crash are in stable condition, authorities said.
Police say speed is a factor in the crash and Fuentes has been cited for three counts of endangering the health or life of a child, transportation of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and speeding 31 to 39 mph over the limit.

She is next expected in court on Dec. 15.
The 17-year-old driver of the Dodge was cited for failure to wear a seat belt. He is next expected in court on Jan. 12.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation investigation.
