Algonquin Eye Doctor Indicted On Murder Charges

Anthony R. Prate has been indicted on murder charges in connection with the stabbing death of his girlfriend.

COOK COUNTY, IL — An Algonquin eye doctor has been indicted in Cook County on murder charges in connection with the stabbing death of his girlfriend following a dinner party at her Schaumburg home, authorities said. Anthony R. Prate remains held without bond in the Cook County jail on a first-degree murder charge, the Daily Herald reports.

Prate called Schaumburg police around 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 23 to he and his girlfriend, Malgorzata "Margaret" Daniel had a fight, and both were injured, ABC 7 Chicago reports. When police arrived at the home, they found Daniel in the kitchen, not breathing, and Prate with a knife in his hand, according to the Daily Herald.

Earlier in the night, Daniel had hosted a dinner party where the topic of death came up. Prate, upset over the conversation, left the room and came back "noticeably agitated," according to the Daily Herald.

An autopsy determined Daniel was killed by more than 20 “cutting injuries,” according to media reports.
