Algonquin Man Sets Wife's Closet on Fire After She Filed for Divorce: Police

He now faces an arson charge.

Days after his wife filed for divorce, prosecutors said an Algonquin man hoping to burn the woman’s clothes set her closet on fire Wednesday, the Northwest Herald reports.

Anthony J. Eppolito now faces an arson charge for the Wednesday blaze that caused mainly smoke damage to a townhome in the 900 block of Interlock Court, according to the article. A divorce petition indicated Eppolito had been verbally abusive to his wife and had threatened her in the past. The couple has no children.

Eppolito is expected in court Tuesday morning for a preliminary hearing, according to online court records.
