Assistant Chief to Take Over for Fire District's Retiring Chief
Peter Van Dorpe will replace Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District Chief Patrick Mullen, who retires Aug. 7.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District will have a changing of the guard as the assistant chief will take over for the district’s retiring chief, according to a Daily Herald report.
Peter Van Dorpe, who was the district’s assistant chief for almost two years, will replace Patrick Mullen, who is retiring Aug. 7, the report stated. Mullen and Van Dorpe joined the district months apart in 2013, the report added.

Before becoming assistant chief, Van Dorpe was a member of the Chicago Fire Department for 33 years, the report stated.
“He’s eminently qualified to take over the position,” Mullen told The Daily Herald.
