Authorities Investigate House Fire in Algonquin

The blaze was reported Tuesday afternoon at 9811 Amanda Lane.

Authorities are investigating a fire that damaged the outside of a home in Algonquin on Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at 9811 Amanda Lane in Algonquin after a neighbor smelled smoke and went over to the home where he found the siding of the residence on fire, according to an Algonquin Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District press release.

Crews first arriving on the scene at 2:14 p.m. found the siding on the east side of the east end unit of a six-unit, two-story multi-family complex on fire. One resident was home at 9807 Amanda Lane and was directed to leave the residence. No one was home at 9809 Amanda Lane, according to the news release.

Fire crews extinguished the fire by 2:24 p.m. and checked damage inside the house. The fire damage was contained to the outside of the residence only, according to authorities.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined. No civilian or fire personnel injuries were reported.
