Generous Jewel Shoppers LOVE the Algonquin / Lake in the Hills Food Pantry

ALG / LITH Food Pantry holds fundraiser at Jewel Food Store on Randall Road in Algonquin.

While shopping at the Jewel Food Store on Randall Road during June 24 through June 26, you may have encountered a friendly group of ALG / LITH Food Pantry volunteers. These enthusiastic volunteers provided detailed information and beautiful artist renderings of the future site for the ALG / LITH Food Pantry at 1111 Pyott Road in Lake in the Hills.

The volunteers were also accepting monetary and non-perishable food donations at Jewel. “The generosity of our community is overwhelming; we received so many donations for the food pantry shelves, and for the Building Refurbishing Fund. We must thank Mr. Thomas, the store manager at Jewel, for the opportunity to inform the public about the future plans for the ALG / LITH Food Pantry.  We also want to thank all the dedicated volunteers that helped make this event at Jewel a huge success.” said Kathy McCoy, Events Chair for the Food Pantry.

Many former food pantry clients stopped by the volunteers’ tables to share their stories and make a donation. “We had a few former food pantry clients donate money to help give back to the organization that helped support them when they needed to get back on their feet.” McCoy added.  The total amount collected at the Jewel Fundraiser for just three days was $2,800, which brings the total amount of donations for the Building Refurbishing Fund to over $30,000.
