Huntley Sophomores Need Overtime to Get Past South
Huntley's boys sophomore basketball team needed overtime to get past South, 50-45.
The Huntley sophomore boys extended their current winning streak to four games with an overtime victory against Crystal Lake South at home.
The game went back and forth in the first quarter, with Huntley taking a 13-11 lead at the quarter as Blake Jacobs hit a left-handed short jumper from the right baseline.
The Raiders held CLS to just 5 points in the second quarter and took a 22-16 lead into halftime.

The third quarter saw Huntley up by as much as 12 before the Gators closed the quarter with a run to trail 32-24.
In the fourth quarter, CLS opened with 5 straight points to get within 3 at 32-29. Huntley then ran off 6 straight points to go back up 9 but could only score a single free throw the rest of the quarter as CLS charged back and tied the game up 39-39 at the end of regulation.

In the overtime period the Raiders jumped on top first as leading scorer Zach Gorney (19) hit two free throws. Zach scored 6 points in the OT as Huntley won 50-45.
Zach also had 10 rebounds for his third Double-Double of the season. Riley Wicks was also in double figures with 10 points. Daniel Janus led the team in rebounding with 14 boards and he also scored 5 points. Blake Jacobs had 7 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 assist. Jason Shields had 6 points and 4 assists. Brad Spoeth had two points on two big free throws in overtime.
The boys are now 13-8 overall and 6-3 in the Valley.
