Construction Worker Finds Dead Body In Mud Along Route 31: Police
A death investigation is underway following the discovery.

A death investigation is underway in Lake in the Hills after a construction worker found “an adult body” lying in the mud along Route 31 Monday afternoon.
The identity of the person is not being released at this time, and it’s unclear what caused the death, though authorities said they “have nothing to suggest there is a threat to public safety,” Lake in the Hills Police Department Public Officer Amanda Schmitt said in a news release.
The body was located near the 8000 block of South Route 31 at about 3:38 p.m. Monday, police said.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department, McHenry County Major Investigations Assistance Team and the McHenry County Coroner are conducting a joint investigation into this matter and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning with the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
The release of a name is pending the identification and the notification of the family, authorities said.
