The junior at Hampshire High killed in a Saturday crash is the second Hampshire High student to die in a crash this month.

ELGIN, IL - Authorities have identified the the Hampshire High School student killed in a Saturday evening crash as Patryck Stanley, 17 of Hampshire, Kane County Coroner Rob Russell said Monday evening. Stanley, a junior at Hampshire High, is the second Hampshire High student killed in a crash this month. Stanley died at Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin at 9 p.m. --about an hour-and-half after he was involved in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Randall Road and South Street in Elgin.

District 300 officials on Sunday confirmed Stanley was a student at Hampshire High School. The district's crisis intervention team was on hand at both Hampshire High and Middle schools Monday to help support staff and students, according to a Sunday post on the District 300 Facebook page.

The fatality comes days after Hampshire High Student Brianna Soto, 17, was killed in a two-vehicle crash in unincorporated Hampshire Township.

A preliminary investigation shows the Saturday night crash occurred when a Nissan Altima, driven by the Stanley, was traveling north on Randall Road and crossed over the center line striking a Pontiac traveling south on Randall Road. The driver of the Pontiac, a 21-year-old Geneva man, was not injured, according to a news release from the Elgin Police Department.

The Nissan then continued north in the southbound lanes of Randall Road where it struck a Dodge Grand Caravan, which was driven by a 30-year-old Elgin woman, police said. The driver of this Dodge, as well as her 67-year-old passenger, were transported to Advocate Sherman Hospital with injuries that are not being considered life-threatening.

The Nissan then left the roadway. Stanley was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the news release. A 15-year-old passenger from Carpentersville who was in the Nissan was transported to Sherman Hospital where she was released with non-life threatening injuries.

An autopsy on Stanley is scheduled for Tuesday. Toxicology samples will be collected during the autopsy and sent to a forensic lab for review.

Several streets in the area of the crash were closed for about four hours during the crash investigation.

Saturday's fatal crash came just a week after Briana Soto, who was also a Hampshire High School student, was killed in a crash on May 4 on Dietrich Road between Route 20 and Brier Hills Road in unincorporated Hampshire Township.

Authorities believe distracted driving may have played a part in the crash that happened when a 2005 Toyota Corolla, which was driven by Soto, was heading east on Dietrich Road over a hill. The vehicle crossed the centerline. The Toyota hit a westbound 2005 Ford SUV. Both vehicles rolled over with the Ford coming to rest on the north side of Dietrich Road and the Toyota coming to rest on the south side of Dietrich Road.

Soto, 17, of Pingree Grove, was taken to Centegra Medical Center in Huntley where she was pronounced dead. A passenger in her vehicle, a 17-year-old Pingree Grove girl, was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin for treatment of injuries that are not considered life-threatening, police said.

Deputies believe Soto was using her cell phone at the time of the crash but are not sure exactly what she was doing on it, Pat Gengler, spokesman for the Kane County Sheriff's Office, told Patch.

Four teens in the Ford – a 15-year-old Huntley girl, a 16-year-old Hampshire girl, a 16-year-old Algonquin girl and the driver, a 16-year-old Lake in the Hills girl – were also taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin for treatment of injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to authorities.
