Diced Fresh Does a Salad Right
Annie and Piper try something new and have lunch at Diced Fresh.
This week I wanted to review someplace I had not yet been to. I felt like trying something new — stepping out of the box. So, that is just what we did.
Yesterday, Piper and I visited , located at 132 South Randall Road in Algonquin. Diced is located in the tiny strip of stores in front of Joe Caputo & Sons grocery store.
Piper and I arrived at about 12:30 p.m. and found packed. There are about a dozen or so tables and a small bar at the window and every seat was taken. We walked to the back of the restaurant and looked over the menu hanging on the wall.

Piper decided she wanted soup, not salad. She ordered a small Loaded Potato Soup. I knew I wanted to try a salad but I was not sure what kind of salad I wanted.
The menu is vast with many different choices. Diced has chili and several soup choices including lobster bisque – which I am definitely going to try the next time I visit. They also have several wraps to choose from including a club sub wrap, a chicken salad wrap and a seasoned steak wrap.

Diced also has quite a few featured salads including the Diced House Salad, the Island Salad and a Cobb Salad.
Since it was my first time there, I was not sure how things worked, so I asked the salad maker behind the counter if he would help guide me and with a smile on his face, he did. He was EXTREMELY helpful and walked me through the process.
First I picked which kind of lettuce I wanted: Romaine, Iceburg, Spring Mix or Spinach. Then I chose what I wanted in my salad. They have more than 50 ingredients to choose from – beets, garbanzo beans, jicama, onions, peas, different fruits, croutons, and a variety of veggies just to name a few. After my bowl was filled with salad goodness, I picked a dressing. Again, there are many to choose from – creamy dressings, oil based dressings, fat free dressings and low-fat dressings.
Piper told me what I should put in my salad and the Salad Dude created it: iceburg lettuce, blue cheese, tomatoes, grapes, mushrooms, eggs, feta cheese and strawberries and creamy garlic dressing — chopped.
Sounds weird, doesn’t it? It was delicious! Leave it to me to turn a healthy salad into an unhealthy salad! All the ingredients were fresh and the salad was perfectly dressed.
Piper and I really enjoyed our lunch from . I look forward to taking the rest of the family because I know they will enjoy it as well.
