The crash occurred at the intersection of Lenschow and French roads in unincorporated Hampshire Township.

A 64-year-old Elgin man was killed Thursday morning in a one-vehicle crash in unincorporated Hampshire Township.

Ronald Suitts, 64, of the 900 block of South Elgin Street, was the sole occupant in a 2001 CRV that collided with a tree at about 9:06 a.m. at the intersection of Lenschow and French roads in unincorporated Hampshire Township, according to a Kane County Sheriff's Office press release. Suitts, of the 900 block of South Street in Elgin, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin where he was pronounced dead.

An initial investigation indicates that a 2001 Honda CRV was traveling west on Lenschow Road and for an unknown reason failed to stop at the T-intersection with French Road, according to the news release. The Honda crossed French Road and struck a tree head-on.
