Family’s Cat Missing Following Algonquin House Fire

​No one was injured in the Tuesday blaze at 1270 Winaki Trail in Algonquin.

A family’s cat is missing after a fire broke out at a house in Algonquin Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the single-story home at 1270 Winaki Trail in Algonquin at about 3:31 p.m. on Tuesday, according to an Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Protection District press release.When they arrived on scene, they found heavy fire conditions in the rear of the house.

A part of the home had collapsed in the back and firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control by 4:02 p.m., according to a news release.

No one was injured in the blaze but the family’s cat is missing from the home, fire officials said.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was assisted by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, Carpentersville Fire Department, Crystal Lake Fire Department, Barrington-Countryside Fire Department, Cary Fire Department, and Fox River Grove Fire Protection District.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated. A damage estimate is not yet available.
