Former Elementary Teacher Charged With Sex Abuse
Prosecutors allege he sexually abused the victim, who is under 13 years old, on more than one occasion between 2016 and 2017.

CARPENTERSVILLE, IL -- A former District 300 school teacher has been charged with sex abuse of a child. Prosecutors aim to convict him with four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
Carlos Bedoya, 61, of the 100 block of Acorn Lane in Lake in the Hills, was taken into custody by the Carpentersville police on Tuesday, according to a press release from the Kane County State's Attorney's office.
The press release says prosecutors allege that Bedoya made sexual contact with the victim, who is under 13 years old, several times between August 2016 and May 2017.

He appeared in court Wednesday, where Circuit Judge Donald Tegeler, Jr. issued a $200,000 bail with 10 percent to apply for bond. If he posts bond, he is to have no contact with the victim.
If Bedoya is convicted, he'll face a minimum sentence of probation or three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, and will have to register for life as a sex offender.
