Giant Pumpkin on Display at Algonquin Village Hall

The pumpkin came from a garden at the Algonquin Wastewater Treatment Facility. Vegetables grown there help to support the local food pantry.

ALGONQUIN, IL -- There is a massive pumpkin currently on display at the Ganek Municipal Center, 2200 Harnish Drive in Algonquin.

Since 2012, vegetables have been grown at the Algonquin Wastewater Treatment Facility to help support the Algonquin Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry. This year’s harvest resulted in the massive pumpkin. The garden at the water treatment facility is planted and maintained by volunteers from both the village and the food pantry, according to a post on the village of Algonquin’s Facebook page.
