The Iron Horse Bar & Grill recently opened in Algonquin, bringing with it a tasty menu, craft beers and some unique events, such as a cruise night in its parking lot that features vintage cars.

The owner of the Thirsty Whale, Joe Condo, of Lake in the Hills, opened the Iron Horse at 3965 W. Algonquin Road, the location of the former Foley’s Pub, in May, according to the Northwest Herald.

The new bar and eatery is about 2,400 square feet and will sit about 86 people. And don’t expect the interior to look anything like the former Foley’s Pub -- the entire building has been completely rehabbed, Condo told the Northwest Herald.

“The bar has been redone, there’s a wood and metal exterior, we finished the floors, and added a 95-inch fireplace in the mid-wall within the building,” Condo told the Northwest Herald.

Chef Aaron Valdez came up with the menu for the Iron Horse Bar & Grill.

Some of those items include bacon-wrapped dates that are stuffed with goat cheese; a sausage board that includes roasted sausages, smoked gouda chunks, giardiniera and a toasted baguette and a Southern California grilled cheese with pepperjack, aged cheddar, avocado, smoked tomatoes and bacon. The full menu can be viewed online.

The Iron Horse is currently open every day for lunch. The restaurant’s hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
