Job Search/Career Support at the Library

Whether you're in the middle of a job search or evaluating your career goals, the Library can help!

Our programs feature presenters who are passionate about helping people find gainful employment and go farther in their chosen careers. Opportunities range from gaining technology skills to training your mind — all in the name of moving ahead.

Since last year, I struggled to find a new job and could not figure out what I was doing wrong. With all this new information you blessed me with, I know feel as if I have a hopeful outlook in finding a job.

All programs are free but require registration. Visit aapld.org/events to register for job and career support programs through April. You can also register via phone by calling 847-458-6060, extension 143, or in person at the Adult Services desk.

Get Ready, Get Set, Get HIRED: Acing the Job Market

Saturday, March 7, 9:30am - 2:30pm

Business & Career Center specialists from Illinois WorkNet will present an employment skills workshop on each date shown. The workshop will cover the latest business insights on key career and employment topics, including goal setting, job search techniques, resume/cover letter preparation and interviewing. Participants are encouraged to bring a current copy of their resume and cover letter. Box lunch provided.

Saturday March 14, 9:30am - 12:30pm

This workshop focuses on advanced ways to convey your expertise and the value people gain by connecting and developing a professional relationship with you. Enhance your profile, manage and communicate with connections, improve your find-ability and learn how to approach key contacts and companies. Participants must have a LinkedIn account, and bring a laptop, iPad or other device. Wireless access is available.
