Lake in The Hills PD Makes 3 DUI Arrests Over Holiday Weekend

These arrests were made as part of the St. Patrick's Day "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" crackdown by the Lake in the Hills police.

From the Village of The Lake in the Hills: The Lake in the Hills Police Department joined forces with other state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in the St. Patrick’s Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown.

During the St. Patrick’s Day crackdown, the Lake in the Hills Police Department stopped twenty five vehicles for violations of the Illinois Vehicle Code (IVC) and the following enforcement occurred; thirty nine total citations were issued for violations of the IVC. These citations included speeding and no valid insurance. In addition, three DUI arrests were made and three seat belt citations were written. All three of those seatbelt citations occurred during nighttime hours.

Although this “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown occurred around a holiday, impaired driving causes tragedies year round. According to the latest data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2015, 10,265 people died in impaired driving crashes on our nation’s roads.

We want to remind all drivers that DUI arrests are very preventable. Drivers should never get behind the wheel when impaired by alcohol, drugs or both. It takes everyone doing their part to make ‘Zero Fatalities a Reality’ in Illinois.

Our officers worked an extra thirty three hours of enforcement over the crackdown that was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation. It is part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
