LITH Business Owner Arrested for Selling Marijuana to Undercover Cops: Police

The business owner and a 24-year-old Algonquin man face drug charges.

A Lake in the Hills business owner has been arrested and charged for selling marijuana to undercover cops, police said Wednesday.

Robert P. Loud, 24, of Prospect Heights was arrested last month following a month-long investigation into the sale of marijuana from Loudz Smoke Shop, which is located at 61 Polaris Drive. Another man, Christopher D. Wills, 24, of 3231 Nottingham Drive in Algonquin, was also arrested on drug charges.

Police said undercover police bought 28 grams of marijuana from Loud and Wills on Dec. 22. Following the investigation, detectives seized 56 grams of marijuana, packaging material, a digital scale, drug paraphernalia, $286 in cash and one 2007 Toyota Camry, according to a McHenry County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Both men were arrested on Dec. 22 and appeared in court on Tuesday. Loud and Wills are both charged with unlawful delivery of marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana. Wills is also charged with unlawful possession with intent to deliver marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wills bond was set at $20,000 and bail for Loud was set at $10,000.

Loud is expected back in court on Jan. 26. The next court date for Wills is set for Jan. 29.
