LITH Man Convicted of Fifth DUI

David J. Ciengi could now face between four and 15 years in prison.

A McHenry County jury found a Lake in the Hills man guilty of his fifth DUI, the Northwest Herald reports.

David J. Ciengi, 52, was pulled over at 1:30 a.m. on April 27 and prosecutors said he had glassy eyes, smelled of alcohol, failed two field sobriety tests and told a police officer he had four 12-ounce Jim Beam and Cokes, according to the article. Ciengi’s attorney argued that while he may have been drinking there was not enough evidence to provide Ciengi, who refused to take a Breathalyzer test, was impaired.

Ciengi was last arrested for DUI in 1992 and now faces between four to 15 years in prison during a sentencing hearing on Jan. 21, according to the Northwest Herald.
