LITH Police to Host First-Ever Senior Safety Series

A three-hour class will be held on April 1 and is free to the public.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL - The Lake in the Hills Police Department will host its first-ever Senior Safety Series class that will take place on Saturday, April 1.

The free one-day class will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Lake in the Hills Safety Education Center (SEC), 1109 Crystal Lake Road in Lake in the Hills, and is meant to address the threats and concerns faced by senior citizens in the community.

"In striving to help and reach every member in our village, our community policing initiative has led us to create this brand new program to help out our senior citizens," according to a news release.

Topics will include personal safety, senior abuse, social media, scams, situational awareness, home and travel safety, defensive tactics, and much more.

Specialized police instructors will be on hand to help educate, guide and answer questions. Guest speaker, Meg Krase from Senior Services Associates, will be there to talk about senior abuse, tips and care information and local services available to our senior citizens.

In addition, the Huntley Fire Protection District will do a presentation specifically designed for seniors about fall prevention.

The class will be limited to 30 participants.
