Man Stashes Cocaine On Dollar Tree Shelf Prior To Arrest
The 45-year-old Carpentersville man was arrested on a warrant and now also faces drug charges.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 45-year-old Carpentersville man is behind bars after he stashed a large amount of cocaine on the shelves of a Dollar Tree store in Algonquin shortly before authorities took him into custody on an arrest warrant.
The McHenry County Sheriff's Department followed Carlo V. Yescas-Noriega from his home to the Dollar Tree store, 1402 E. Algonquin Road, at about 1 p.m. on Thursday, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office. When officers approached him inside the store, he began to flee and tried to hide 114 grams of cocaine on a store shelf.
He was arrested inside the store on an outstanding warrant on a theft charge, according to police.

The Dollar Tree store was closed for two hours and there was a large police presence at the location as investigators collected evidence, police said.
No one was injured in the incident. Authorities have since conducted a search of Yescas-Noriega's home and found 18.5 grams of cocaine, 59.5 grams of marijuana, drug packaging materials, a handgun and shotgun.

Yescas-Noriega has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
His bail has been set at $250,000, and he is next expected in court at 9 a.m. on Feb. 1.
