Mental Health Eval Ordered In Algonquin Double Murder
Maxim Parnov, 36, is accused of killing Elvira Almen and Peter Almen inside their home in November 2021.

ALGONQUIN, IL — An Algonquin man accused of killing his mother and stepfather and then hiding their bodies in their freezer and a cabinet has been ordered by the court to undergo a mental health evaluation, Shaw Media is reporting.
Maxim Parnov, 36, remains behind bars at the McHenry County Jail. He is being held on a $5 million bail and faces six counts of first-degree murder and two counts of concealment of a homicide in the slayings of Elvira Almen, 56, and Peter Almen, 64.
On Thursday, McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge granted a request by assistant public defender Angelo Mourelatos who requested the evaluation, according to Shaw Media.

"Mr. Parnov has a background of suffering from mental health issues in the past," Mourelatos wrote in the motion.
Parnov was arrested in Wisconsin days after the bodies of his mother and stepfather were discovered. Authorities say Parnov killed Elvira and Peter Almen inside their home in the 400 block of LaFox Drive on Nov. 30 before putting Elvira's body in the freezer and Peter's body in a cabinet and using a UHaul truck to transport both away.
