Officials Investigating LITH Elementary School Fire
No one was injured in the Jan. 2 blaze at the local elementary school.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL – Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire at Lincoln Prairie Elementary School. Fire crews responded to the school at 500 Harvest Gate in Lake in the Hills at 9:28 a.m. on Jan. 2 for a report of black smoke coming from an oven in the school, according to a news release from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District. The school was evacuated.
Firefighters first at the scene found smoke in the cafeteria and extinguished the blaze. The fire was declared out at about 9:40 a.m.
No one was injured in the blaze, fire officials said.

The Crystal Lake Fire Department, Cary Fire Protection District, and Fox River Grove Fire Protection District, and Huntley Fire Protection District also responded to the blaze.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated A damage estimate is not yet available, according to the news release.
