What's Open, Closed on July 4th

Check out this list of places around town to see what is open and closed on Independence Day.

The Fourth of July is Wednesday, and while most workplaces are closed and the barbecues are fired up, you still may need to get out and around Algonquin and Lake in the Hills. 

Here's what you need to know about what's open and closed.

Offices

Village Hall: The village hall offices will be closed all day on Wednesday in Algonquin, at 2600 Harnish Drive, and Lake in the Hills, at 600 Harvest Gate.

Trash Collection: Trash collection will be delayed by one-day because of the holiday. Trash will be collected on Thursday.

Emergency: For police or fire emergencies, call 911. For a non-emergency, call the Algonquin police department at 847-658-4531, or the LITH police department at 847-658-5676.

Around Town

Post Office: The post office, located at 801 W. Algonquin Road, will be closed on Wednesday. However, the main lobby will continue to be open 24 hours on the Fourth of July.

Library: The on Harnish Drive, along with the branch location on Eastgate Drive, will be closed on Wednesday. Both locations will re-open on Thursday.

Banks: Some banks are closed on Wednesday. Call your branch for complete information.

Movies: The AMC in Lake in the Hills on Randall Road will be open on Wednesday. For showtimes, check out AMC’s website, or call the Showtimes Hotline at 888-AMC-4FUN.

Bowling: Brunswick Zone XL on Randall Road will be open on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.. Go bowling for a special price of $9.99 per person for two hours of bowling, just on the Fourth of July. Call 847-658-2257 for more information.

Algonquin Commons: Some stores in the Algonquin Commons will be open on Wednesday. Generally, stores are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but that will vary on the Fourth of July. Contact the Algonquin Commons Guest Services at 847-458-2700 for information on each specific store.
