Police Find Robber Floating in Fox River

The 28-year-old Elgin man was taken into custody Tuesday after he was spotted floating in the river.

ELGIN, IL - A 28-year-old man accused of robbing an Elgin convenience store Tuesday afternoon is in custody after police found him floating in the Fox River.

Joseph C. Figliola, of the 500 block of Raymond Street in Elgin, is charged with robbery, a class 2 felony, for robbing the JJ Peppers Store at 10 S. State Street in Elgin, according to a press release.

With the assistance from witnesses and footage from surveillance cameras at the store, police were able to get a description of the suspect. Officers set up a perimeter in the area and began a search for the robber, according to the news release.

A person matching the description was seen floating in the Fox River and was taken into custody by officers in the area. Detectives from the Major Investigations Division took over the investigation. Figliola is expected in bond court Wednesday morning.
