Police Officer, LITH Teen Seriously Injured in Barrington Hills Crash

The Barrington Hills police officer and the teen became trapped in their vehicles following the two-car crash.

BARRINGTON HILLS, IL - A Barrington Hills Police Department officer and a 19-year-old Lake in the Hills man were seriously injured in a two-car collision in Barrington Hills early Sunday.

A preliminary investigation revealed a silver 2006 Hyundai Tuscon, driven by Kevin L. James of Lake in the Hills, was heading west on County Line Road at Bellwood Drive when the vehicle collided with a westbound 2013 Ford Explorer squad car, driven by Barrington Hills officer Dominic V. Caputo, 54.

Both drivers had to be extricated from the vehicles and were taken to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

County Line Road was closed between Donlea Road and Ridge Road until 8:35 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation by the Barrington Hills Police Department and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.
