Results from Roadside Safety Check in Algonquin
The Illinois State Police and Algonquin Police Department held a roadside safety check on Friday and Saturday in Algonquin.

ALGONQUIN, IL - Over the past weekend, the Illinois State Police and the Algonquin Police Department held a Roadside Safety Check on Route 62 at Ryan Parkway. The roadside safety check was held from late on May 5 through the early morning hours of May 6, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police. During the enforcement effort, police issued the following citations:
- Drug/Alcohol citations: 2
- Registration Offenses: 1
- Insurance Violations: 5
Alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois, and throughout the U.S., nearly 10,000 people die each year due to alcohol-impaired driving.

Roadside Safety Checks are designed to keep roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road, according to Illinois State Police. The project was funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
