Man, 29, Killed in Semi Crash Near Woodstock
A Chevy Cruze collided with a semi-truck on Route 14 in unincorporated Woodstock Monday morning.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL -- A 29-year-old Spring Grove man was killed after his car collided with a semi on Route 14 near Woodstock Monday morning.
The collision occurred at 10:49 a.m. at Route 14 and Hartland Drive in unincorporated Woodstock. A preliminary investigation revealed a 2013 Peterbilt semi-truck was headed northwest on Route 14 when a 2012 red Chevy Cruze, which was headed south on Hartland Road, stopped at a stop sign and then proceeded into the intersection and into the path of the semi, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office press release.
The semi driver stepped on his brakes and tried to swerve to avoid the collision but still ended up crashing with the car. The driver of the Chevy Cruze, a 29-year-old Spring Grove man, was pronounced dead following the accident.

The semi-truck driver, a 44-year-old man from Wahpeton, North Dakota, was not injured. He is “cooperating with the investigation,” according to police. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
The name of the Spring Grove man will not be released until his family is notified, police said Monday afternoon.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Investigations Unit with the assistance of the Illinois State Police Truck Enforcement Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
