1 McHenry County Hospital Receives 'A,' Other Receives 'B' in Safety Study
Centegra Hospital in McHenry received a better grade than Centegra Hospital in Woodstock in recent hospital safety rankings.

When it comes to safety, Centegra Hospital in McHenry is the best choice for reliable care in McHenry County, according to a recent national hospital study.
The Leapfrog Group, along with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, recently evaluated hospitals throughout the nation on the basis of numerous criteria and consolidated the results into a single letter grade for each.
Centegra Hospital in McHenry received an “A” hospital grade while nearby Centegra Hospital in Woodstock received a “B” grade in the Leapfrog Group’s fall 2016 rankings. Centegra Hospital in McHenry also received an A in Leapfrog’s spring study while Centegra Hospital in Woodstock received another B in the study from earlier this year.

“The analysis finds that despite considerable improvement in the safety of hospital care since the Score’s launch in 2012, avoidable deaths remain high,” the site said. “Findings point to a 9 percent higher risk of avoidable death in B hospitals, 35 percent higher in C hospitals, and 50 percent higher in D and F hospitals, than in A hospitals.”
