Crystal Lake Gas Station Cited for Selling Tobacco to a Minor
The Crystal Lake BP failed a recent compliance check.

A Crystal Lake business has been cited for selling tobacco to a minor.
The Crystal Lake Police Department on Nov. 9 conducted tobacco compliance checks at 34 businesses throughout the city. The one business that failed the compliance check, and sold a pack of cigarettes to an underage minor, was the Crystal Lake BP, 281 W. Virginia St. in Crystal Lake, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Police Department.
The BP was cited for a local ordinance violation, according to police. The case will be heard at an adjudication hearing at the Crystal Lake City Hall on Dec. 9.

Operating under a State funded grant, the Illinois Liquor Commission has been the lead agency in developing strategies that reduce illegal tobacco sales to minors. Crystal Lake Police will continue the campaign throughout 2016 and 2017 in an effort to stop illegal tobacco and e-cigarette product sales to minors.
