Waverunner Driver Goes Over Dam in Algonquin

The driver is safe after the incident Saturday afternoon on the Fox River.

A man driving a waverunner was not injured when he went over a low head dam on the Fox Rover in Algonquin on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the low head dam, which is located under the bridge of Algonquin Road near Port Edwards Restaurant at 4:04 p.m., according to an Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District press release.

Witnesses said the driver, whose identity is currently not being released, went over the low head dam and then continued riding south on the river, according to the news release.

The waverunner was located behind 317 LaFox Drive in Algonquin. The driver was checked out by paramedics and was not injured.

The scene was turned over to police.
