Animal Abuser Gets Jail Time for Mistreatment of Rabbits, Alpacas, Llamas
Stacy Fiebelkorn of Elgin has been sentenced to 90 days in jail and two years of probation.
A 36-year-old Elgin woman has been sentenced to jail time for mistreating animals in rural Kane County.
Stacy A. Fiebelkorn, of the 1000 block of Borden Drive in Elgin, entered a guilty plea on Friday to a misdemeanor charge of cruel treatment of animals and was sentenced to 90 days in jail and two years of probation as part of a plea deal.
Prosecutors said Fiebelkorn knowingly starved and abused several animals at a farm on Route 20 near Hampshire. The animals mistreated on the farm included rabbits, alpacas, llamas, goats, chickens, turkeys, ducks, mini-horses, horses and mini-donkeys.

In addition to the jail and probation terms, Fiebelkorn must undergo a psychological evaluation and is barred from owning, possessing, controlling or caring for any animals during the probation period.
“There is a national consensus that animal abuse should be treated as a serious crime. This sentence reflects that expectation,” Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said. “Thanks to all of the volunteers who stepped forward in response to these animals in need.”
