Alsip Police Announce Murder Charges In 'Robbery Gone Wrong'

ALSIP, IL -- A Carpentersville man is charged with shooting two people at an Alsip towing company earlier this week, that left one man dead and another seriously injured. Brian Garcia, 33, was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder. He is being held for a bond hearing Thursday in Bridgeview.

The men were found shot at Ray’s Towing and Recovery Service at 127th Street and Pulaski in Alsip just after 1 p.m. on Sept. 19. Mohamed Salhia, 76, of Orland Park, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. A 43-year-old man was also shot and is said to be hospitalized in stable condition. Alsip police described them as owners and employees of the towing company.

Garcia was apprehended after a car and foot chase by Oak Lawn police in Evergreen Park. Police believe it was attempted armed robbery gone wrong. Felony charges were approved Thursday evening by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
