Crestwood Promotes Public Safety At National Night Out

Crestwood has a full slate of activities planned for National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 6, including a 3K, info booths, music and more.

CRESTWOOD, IL—Crestwood will hold National Night Out festivities from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 at Walker Park, 14065 Waterbury Dr. The Crestwood Police and Crestwood Fire Departments, public works and other local business are planning a fun-filled family evening. This event is free.

The evening kicks off with Crestwood's Run/Walk Against Crime, that will step off 5:30 p.m. in Walker Park. Adults and kids have the option of running or walking the 1.8 mile course. The course takes runners and walkers through neighborhood streets between 139th Street and 137th Place. The 3K will take place rain or shine. Packet pickup for the 3K is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Crestwood Recreation and Wellness Center, 5331 W. 135th St., and on the day of the event.

This race is not timed. Strollers and wagons are allowed, but will be placed in the back of the pack. Leave your pooch at home, as pets are not allowed in the 3K. For more information, call Erik Z. at 708-371-4810 or email CRWCsports@gmail.com.

As in past years, the public safety event is FREE, featuring displays, information booths, music and games for all who attend. Hot dogs, burgers and other refreshments will be served. Police will also be drawing winners from the annual Crestwood Police Association raffle at 8: 30 p.m. Tickets will be available on site.
