Accused Sex Buyers Arrested In Arlington Heights As Part Of National Super Bowl Sting

Police used a village motel to catch 5 alleged "johns." More than 750 people were arrested in the nationwide operation.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Five men accused of trying to buy sex were arrested as part of a national Super Bowl crackdown on "johns" in 15 states and involving 30 law enforcement agencies, according to Arlington Heights police.

The arrests were made during a sting operation from Jan. 18 to Feb. 5, at a motel near Arlington Heights Road and Algonquin Road, police said. The following people were arrested and charged with solicitation of a sexual act:

  • Saharat R. Blaine, 37, of the 400 block of Streamwood Boulevard, Streamwood
  • Wilmer Rodriguez, 42, of the 500 block of Enterprise Drive, Mount Prospect
  • Alan Karamovic, 42, of the 8200 block of Elmwood Avenue, Skokie
  • Juan Barbosa-Gomez, 23, of the 28600 block of Arcadia Road, Lake Bluff
  • Yassir Guezzar, 38, of the 5500 block of Madison Street, Hinsdale

Overall, the effort — called the National Johns Suppression Initiative — led to the arrests of 723 sex buyers and 29 pimps or sex traffickers nationwide, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office, which coordinated efforts in the local area.
