AH Junior Woman's Club Assembles Smoke Alarm Installation Kits
Supports Nonprofit IFSA to help protect Illinois Residents

In early May, members of the Arlington Heights Junior Woman’s Club (AHJWC) gathered at the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance (IFSA) office in Mount Prospect to assemble 100 smoke alarm installation kits. Through the cooperation of First Alert, the IFSA will be hosting a series of 10 press events throughout north/northwest Illinois this year to educate the public on a new Illinois smoke alarm law, which will take effect in a few years. By the end of 2022, single and multi-family homes that are still using smoke alarms with removable batteries will be required to have new alarms that feature 10-year non-removable sealed batteries, with a few exceptions. The IFSA believes that Illinois residents shouldn’t wait to comply with the new law and that everyone should start better protecting their homes and family with these life-saving devices.
The smoke alarm press events will be held at various fire departments across the state, based on various media markets. Fire departments participating in the events will be receiving 10 installation kits and 100 First Alert 10-year concealed battery smoke alarms. Media coverage will begin in the second half of 2019.
The Arlington Heights Junior Woman’s Club was formed in 1933 and their main objective, which still holds true today, is to live each day, trying to accomplish something, not merely exist.” The AHJWC was also recently recognized as a 2018 IFSA Diamond Level supporter of the IFSA. The IFSA is thankful for the great relationship and support from the ladies of the Arlington Heights Junior Woman’s Club!
