SCHAUMBURG, IL — A woman was struck by an outbound Metra train Tuesday afternoon at the Schaumburg station, disrupting service on the Milwaukee District West Line.
Metra initially halted trains in both directions near the station following the collision, according to ABC7 Chicago. One of the two tracks was later reopened, though riders were warned to expect extensive delays.
The woman's condition was not immediately available, and additional details about how the collision occurred had not been released.
The Schaumburg station is on Metra's Milwaukee District West Line, which runs between Chicago Union Station and Big Timber in Elgin and includes stops in Roselle, Schaumburg, Hanover Park and Bartlett.
Tuesday's incident comes less than two months after another person was struck by an outbound train at the same station.
That collision happened at about 7:20 a.m. The man was taken to a hospital, while the crash halted service along the line. Metra said at the time that trains continued operating east of Schaumburg while crews worked at the scene.
The Daily Herald later reported that the man was undergoing surgery at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital and that both tracks had reopened by about 9:30 a.m.
There was no immediate indication that the two incidents were related.
Patch will update this story as additional information becomes available.
