Woman Struck By Metra Train At Schaumburg Station

The incident caused extensive delays on the Milwaukee District West Line and is the second train strike at the station this summer.

SCHAUMBURG, IL — A woman was struck by an outbound Metra train Tuesday afternoon at the Schaumburg station, disrupting service on the Milwaukee District West Line.

Metra initially halted trains in both directions near the station following the collision, according to ABC7 Chicago. One of the two tracks was later reopened, though riders were warned to expect extensive delays.

The woman's condition was not immediately available, and additional details about how the collision occurred had not been released.

Second Train Strike At Station This Summer

Tuesday's incident comes less than two months after another person was struck by an outbound train at the same station.

Patch reported June 25 that a man with a bicycle was struck by a Metra train at the Schaumburg station.

That collision happened at about 7:20 a.m. The man was taken to a hospital, while the crash halted service along the line. Metra said at the time that trains continued operating east of Schaumburg while crews worked at the scene.

The Daily Herald later reported that the man was undergoing surgery at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital and that both tracks had reopened by about 9:30 a.m.

There was no immediate indication that the two incidents were related.
