Arlington Heights Health Center Receives $1 Million In Federal Funding
The money will go toward purchasing medical equipment for a new urgent care center, according to U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — According to U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, the average cost of a trip to the emergency room is more than $1,000, but heading to an urgent center costs a fraction of that. The Schaumburg Democrat announced last week that a new Cook County Health urgent care center in Arlington Heights will receive $1 million in federal funding.
"The urgent care center will also help ease the strain placed on hospital systems from patients with non-emergency cases seeking care at hospital emergency rooms," Krishnamoorthi said during a ceremony attended by Cook County CEO Israel Rocha, Jr., Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes.
Krishnamoorth, who has represented the 8th congressional district of Illinois since 2017, said the funding was approved as part of a bipartisan government spending package passed by Congress in December. The money will be used to purchase medical equipment for the urgent care center.
