Arlington Heights Village Board Approves Additional COVID-19 Relief Package

Additional Coronavirus Relief initiatives were approved by the Village Board on Dec. 21 to help local businesses, especially restaurants.

Additional Coronavirus Relief initiatives were approved by the Village Board on December 21 to help Village businesses, especially restaurants that are currently prohibited from serving customers indoors under the State’s Tier 3 Mitigation plan.

The relief measures include an additional 25% reduction on restaurant liquor license fees for all classes of licenses other than B and BB, a deferral of the due date for all classes of liquor license renewals from April 30, 2021 to June 30, 2021, and deferring payment on emergency zero-interest business loans from January 1, 2021 to June 1, 2021.

“The success of our businesses is critically important to the Village for many reasons. Consistent with our obligation to do all we can to help them survive the COVID-19 pandemic and get through to the other side, we are happy to provide this second package of economic relief measures,” said Mayor Tom Hayes. “As we remain all in this together, we encourage our residents to “Shop Arlington” and consider take-out or delivery dining until our restaurants can be fully open again.”

In May 2020, the Board approved the initial Coronavirus Relief package, which included a 25% reduction in liquor license fees for all classes of licenses other than B and BB; zero-percent interest loans of up to $10,000 each for eligible businesses, and provided additional financial assistance for eligible residents by supplementing funding of the Village’s Emergency Assistance program. In addition to these business and residential relief programs, Arlington Alfresco outdoor dining was also approved as part of the Village’s initial Coronavirus Relief package.
