Aspired Living's Team Raises Just Over $4,000 for Alzheimer's

Aspired Living’s A Knew Day® Memory Support community has a team of caregivers whose dedication to their dementia residents extends beyond work shifts and professional roles.

Aspired Living’s team sees the effects of Alzheimer’s firsthand on residents and their family members, as they take a positive approach daily to create a meaningful and inspirational lifestyle for the individuals in their care. In the hopes of improving the outlook for people affected by Alzheimer’s in the future, team members faithfully participate in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s to raise awareness and money, with the Aspired Living team raising just over $4,000 this year!

“All of our team members—from nurses to housekeepers to culinarians—know the residents’ life stories so well that they are like family to us,” says Megan McInerney, Memory Support Manger, who has been with Aspired Living of Prospect Heights since the opening in 2017 and is an Alzheimer’s Walk team captain.

Megan says that she and other team members find deep satisfaction in creating a close-knit, comfortable and joyful environment for their residents, and they will experience even greater satisfaction when a cure for Alzheimer’s is discovered.

“We are happy to once again do our part to raise awareness and help fund a cure,” said Megan, who walked earlier this month alongside her co-workers, Assisted Living residents and A Knew Day® Memory Support residents.

Some residents who were unable to walk helped raised $368 by purchasing gift basket raffle tickets. Gift basket goodies were generously donated by Accord Hospice, Elara Caring, Fox Rehab, Gentle Home Services, Kindred Hospice and Kindred at Home.

“Every step and every dollar Aspired Living contributed will hopefully lead to a breakthrough in the fight against Alzheimer’s and all other dementia,” said Megan.
