Benefit Concert for Cafe That Would Hire Adults With Disabilities
Jahil Llama will play at Hey Nonny this week. All funds raised will go toward Gerry's Cafe.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Hey Nonny will host a benefit concert this week to raise funds for Gerry's Cafe. The proposed cafe would employ adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Jahil Llama will perform at Hey Nonny, 10 S. Vail Street, Tuesday, July 16, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the concert starting at 7:30 p.m.
“We’re thrilled to be able to host this event to help Gerry’s Café,” said Hey Nonny co-owner Chris Dungan. “Our friends working on the café have put in a ton of work, and we really want to see this project come to life.”
All proceeds from the show will go toward bringing those plans to fruition. Organizers hope to raise more than $4,000 for Gerry's Cafe during Tuesday's show.

In order to open, Gerry's Cafe must raise enough money to lease and improve a space for the cafe and training facility. The café is aiming to hire, train and supervise 30 adults, age 22 and older, to work in the establishment. Café offerings will include coffees, fresh baked pastries, café-style breakfast and lunch. In addition, the cafe will offer catering and delivery service to add even more job opportunities.
Wintrust Bank has offered a matching grant of $100,000 to Gerry’s Café for the first $100,000 raised.
