Boot Day Raises Money for Burn Survivors, Additional FD Opportunities to Still Available

Fire Departments Hit the Streets to Raise Money for IFSA, Burn Survivors in Illinois

Mount Prospect - With the continued expansion of programs for burn survivors, the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance (IFSA) relies on assistance from the fire service in Illinois to help raise funds to make these programs possible. Many fire service personnel support the organization in various ways – from volunteering, to spreading awareness, to hosting fundraising events. Earlier in May, the 25th annual Boot Day for Burn Survivors campaign kicked-off across the state. Fire departments and firefighters’ associations hit the streets and stationed themselves outside of local businesses to help raise money for the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance. Money collected from this campaign goes to IFSA burn survivor support programs such as Camp “I Am Me,” Illinois’ camp for young burn survivors. Other programs include Family Day, the Young Adult Summit, and a scholarship program to attend an international burn survivor conference.

The Illinois Fire Safety Alliance would like to thank the generous organizations that have concluded their Boot Day campaign or are quickly gearing up for one, including Broadview FD, Cerro Gordo FPD, Chenoa FD, Chicago FD/Local 2, Elburn & Countryside FPD, Glencoe PS, Highland Park Firefighters Association, McCook FD, North Pekin FD, Norwood Park FPD, Plainfield Volunteer FD, Prospect Heights FPD, Sauk Village FD, Stone Park FD, Summit FD, and Wilmette FD.

Fire departments are able to host a Boot Day for Burn Survivors campaign within their community any time throughout the year. To learn more about this campaign, visit www.ifsa.org/get-involved/boot-day.
