Cars Stolen From Driveway, Repair Shop: Police Blotter

The Arlington Heights Police Department reports various motor vehicle thefts, burglaries and damage in recent weeks.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Arlington Heights Police Department responded to several reports in recent weeks. Here is a look at some of those reports:

  • An unknown offender or offenders took an iPhone, bluetooth speaker, cigarettes and a wallet that was left unattended on a balcony between 12 and 12:15 a.m. on Aug. 20 in the 4100 block of North Bloomington Avenue. The wallet had $100 inside.
  • A leaf blower was stolen from a landscaping trailer between 10:30 and 10:40 a.m. on Aug. 21 from the 700 block of South Bristol Lane. The leaf blower had been left unattended while employees were doing lawn maintenance in a nearby backyard. The approximate value of the stolen property is $550.
  • A thief or thieves stole a gray, 1984 Mercedes 300 series car from a driveway in the 1100 block of West Miner Street between 9 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 21. The vehicle was unlocked and had the keys inside and has a missing hood emblem.
  • A vehicle receiving service work at SMOC Enterprises, 660 E. Northwest Highway, was stolen from the parking lot at about 2:08 p.m. on Aug. 22. The vehicle had been left unattended by garage staff and unlocked with the keys inside after repair work was completed on it. The male offender is described as Hispanic, wearing a purple shirt, green hat, black shorts and carrying a black backpack.
  • A person or persons is accused of damaging a vehicle parked legally overnight, at some point late on Aug. 14 to the morning of Aug. 15, in a designated parking stall at The Residences, 2226 S. Goebbert Street. The damage incurred on the vehicle is in the form of large, deep scratches on the left rear quarter panel and rear lift gate. The cost to repair the damage is unknown at this time.

Authorities in Arlington Heights are reminding residents to lock their cars, take their keys and remove their valuables to help prevent vehicle thefts and burglaries in town, police said.
