District 21 Doubles Bandwidth and Saves $475,000

Internet and infrastructure upgrades allow CCSD21 to double its bandwidth speeds while saving $475,000 each year.

At its Thursday meeting, the CCSD21 Board of Education received an update from the Information Services team about summer projects that prepared the school district for the beginning of the school year. Internet and infrastructure upgrades allowed the District to double its bandwidth speeds while saving $475,000 each year over the previous contract.

“With more devices accessing our network and increased demand for access to web applications, it is extremely important to provide a fast, scalable, and robust network to ensure a quality digital learning environment for students,” said Mike Frantini, CCSD21 Director of Network and Systems. “We will continue to work diligently to provide quality services while responsibly managing the community’s resources.”

In addition to infrastructure upgrades, the team deployed more than 3,000 devices to support student learning in kindergarten through eighth grades. New this year, class sets of Chromebooks will be available for students in kindergarten, first, and second grades.
