Central Road Closed After Wind Pulls Down Electrical Wires
Work by crews to reinstall the low-hanging wires should be finished by Tuesday night.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Central Road is closed in both directions Tuesday night as work crews reinstall low-hanging electrical wires that were downed by strong winds in the afternoon, according to the village.
The affected stretch includes Central at Wilke Road in the west to 1600 Central Road in the east, the village stated on its Facebook page. The road was closed at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, and officials expect repairs to be finished by about 8 p.m.
Forceful wind gusts are being blamed for knocking down two electrical utility and pulling down the wires around 1:30 p.m., the Chicago Tribune reports. That caused a short power outage in the area, and adjacent buildings were briefly evacuated because of the low-hanging wires, the report added.
