College Credits: Arlington Heights Student Makes It Into Emory Society

Kurth Competes In Electrical Contracting Innovation Challenge

Alexander Kurth, from Arlington Heights, is preparing to compete in the Electrical Contracting Innovation Challenge (ECIC), sponsored by ELECTRI International, with the NECA Student Chapter at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). Kurth is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management at MSOE. For the 2023 ECIC, each faculty advisor and student team will work with their local chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and contractors to deliver a proposal containing various project manager tasks for the Oglethorpe University Emerson Student Center. Roman Electric, a Milwaukee-based NECA contractor, is sponsoring MSOE's team.

Colen Initiated Into Omicron Delta Kappa At Emory

Carly Colen, a native of Arlington Heights, was recently initiated into the Emory University Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society. The Society welcomed 787 new initiates from 32 universities during March 2023. Students initiated into the Society must be sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate/professional students in the top 35 percent of their class, demonstrate leadership experience in at least one of the five pillars, and embrace the ODK ideals. Fewer than five percent of students on a campus are invited to join each year.
