Community Blitz Brings Free Smoke Alarms To Arlington Heights
The statewide effort runs from Oct. 20 through Oct. 26.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Residents in need of a smoke alarm can get a free one starting next week. The Arlington Heights Fire Department is taking part in the statewide Smoke Alarm Community Blitz, beginning Oct. 20 and running through Oct. 26.
The project's goal is to install as many free smoke alarms in residential homes as possible, while supplies last. AHFD is partnering up with Camp I Am Me by the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance, the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal, and the Illinois Community Risk Reduction Coalition Task Force in the effort.
"By providing free smoke alarms and free installation to Arlington Heights residents, this program will help keep our community safe, prevent house fires, and educate residents on the importance of having working smoke alarms," the Village of Arlington Heights said in a news release.
