Council Seeks Exhibitors, Gallery Spaces

The Northwest Cultural Council is expanding its opportunities for area artists and seeking more corporate gallery spaces in the northwest suburbs for them to showcase their work.

The council arranges for painters, sculptors, and textile artists to exhibit through its Corporate Gallery Art Program at businesses, corporations, hospitals, convention centers, and libraries in Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Palatine, Rolling Meadows, and Mundelein. Artwork is juried by the Council.

"We’re seeking additional experienced artists to enhance our program and gain more exposure for their work, and we need more venues in these communities and neighboring ones that co-sponsor our exhibits," says Kathy Umlauf, NWCC Executive Director.

Umlauf adds: "It's not only a wonderful opportunity for deserving artists with gallery-quality work, but also for the venues that draw community residents into their place of business to view exceptional art.”

Robert R. Cobb of Rolling Meadows, longtime participating NWCC artist and retired teacher in the northwest suburban school districts, says: "I welcome engaging with the public to receive patrons' impressions and interpretations of my work." Cobb's paintings are both abstract and of landscapes, and he also draws the human figure.

Exhibits are held for three months at each location, and artists are asked for a year's commitment. Artists who wish to be considered and galleries that have space may contact Umlauf at nwcc@att.net for more information.

NWCC, a non-profit organization, also holds art and poetry competitions, and provides poetry workshops and readings.
